Contemporary Bathroom Vanities

Contemporary bathroom vanities are designed to fit in smaller bathrooms and, as a result, have a different arrangement than a traditional wood and marble bathroom vanity. As economy is key in the design of modern and contemporary bathroom vanities, the sink and the vanity cabinets are separate in a contemporary bathroom vanities set, although some custom contemporary bathroom vanity designs will combine both into a smaller size wood mounted bathroom vanity. Although contemporary small bathroom vanities are the norm, a contemporary bathroom vanities manufacturer can carry contemporary double bathroom vanity designs. Even contemporary bathroom vanity units with a double sink, however, will still be small and economical in design.

While a traditional bathroom vanity is almost always made out of wood and a metal or stone top, contemporary bathroom vanities are often made of a different group and combination of materials. Wood is still used in many contemporary bathroom vanity units, with luxury woods like wenge, mahogany, ebony, and walnut used in particular. In terms of a wood finish, some custom contemporary vanity designs have a light or natural finish to accentuate the natural grain and characteristics of the wood, while others have a lacquer finish accentuating the smoothness of the surface of the wood.

But wood isn’t the only material used for a contemporary bathroom vanity. Metal is another material that is used just as often as metal in many custom contemporary vanity designs. Stainless steel and iron are two of the more common metals used in contemporary bathroom vanity units, and, aside from being materials with a reflective surface, both are durable and long lasting. In addition to metal, porcelain and glass are used frequently in modern contemporary bathroom vanities for the sink basin and occasionally for the bathroom vanity top.

The design of contemporary bathroom vanities is just as unique as the selection of materials used. While a traditional bathroom vanity often has an angular design of cabinets below and the sink and vanity top above, contemporary bathroom vanity designs need to be small enough to fit inside a bathroom but large enough to store bathroom and other household items. Contemporary bathroom vanities are often characterized by their smoothness in design, with rounded corners and seamless edges that don’t reveal any hinges. While some contemporary bathroom vanities may take on a D-shape, others are simply a smaller box shape with rounded edges. This type of design can apply whether the sink and cabinets of a contemporary bathroom vanity are separate or together as one vanity unit.
