In a bath vanity set, which comes with a bathroom vanity and mirror not attached, the larger size allows for more details in the trim of the vanity chest and the mirror, particularly if the mirror has arch shaped panels. In the bathroom vanity sets that we carry, the trim below the vanity top is identical to that of the trim at the top of the mirror. When the mirror has two or three panels with an arch shape at the top, the trim can be just as detailed as that on the vanity chest which, for the larger size, has a wider space between the vanity top and vanity cabinets or drawers. Most of the hand-carved trim on the vanity and accompanying is of vines and flowers or scallop-like curves. In addition, this type of detail is also given to the mirror of a vanity hutch. Aside from the detail in the trim at the top of the mirror and on the vanity hutch, the frame of the mirror holding it to the vanity has a column-like structure, only carved into wood. Other possibilities for details on a bathroom vanity include painted details on the vanity cabinets. The designs are similar to those of the hand-carved trim – flowers and vines – only they add more color to the vanity chest. Although painted details can actually be done to both wood and a painted finish like parchment, the colors show up best on a solid-color surface, such as that for a vanity given a parchment glaze or matte colors like the two-tone Honey Spice and Kaffé vanity set. When a parchment glaze, either white or off-white, is done to the wood, it allows the vanity cabinets to be a solid color canvas for which the designers of the vanity chest have a background to any designs painted on the vanity and the solid color background allows the painter to use more colors instead of bolder or darker colors to make the design stand out on the wood.
