Like a bathroom vanity chest, the vanity top can come in many different sizes, colors, and shapes, as well. The common difference between most vanity tops is the material that they’re made from. Darker color vanity tops are generally made from granite, while lighter color vanity tops are made from marble. However, natural marble can also have a darker color or pattern, and ICA Furniture uses such natural marbles as black marble with white veins and dark imperador – or rocky road patchwork – for brown and grey shades. All colors give the vanity a different character. Although the wood chest comes with a different finish, a vanity top that is white cream marble will give the vanity – and your bathroom – a different character from a darker-colored vanity top. To match the size and shape of a vanity, a vanity top can also have a different shape, with indents and curved and straight lines. For example, in the double vanities with indented drawers down the center, the vanity top is indented to be in line with the shape of the drawers. Similarly, although the beveled edges of vanity tops may indicate smoothness, the top can be angular, as well, particularly if it is outlining the shape of vanity cabinets protruding at an angle instead of being flat against the vanity chest. Although vanity tops can be of different shapes, the material is seldom altered. For our bathroom vanity models, the black granite vanity top with flecks of gold is altered to match the color scheme of the Honey Spice and Kaffé finished vanity. But the wood itself is embellished, particularly when a larger vanity and accompanying mirror allows for more wooden surface area. Many of our large vanities have hand-carved trim at any size, but our largest double vanities have painting, such as flower bouquets and vines, on the vanity cabinets and mirror frame. If the mirror has arched panels, the painting is done in the wood space between the two top arches.
